Sandy says to fry the onion and garlic in the oil till golden and cooked.
Tip in all the other ingredients stir well and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Simmer till hot and well combined, if you want to blend the soup now is the time otherwise serve it chunky.
Serve piping hot in mugs stood around the fire with some grated cheese on top and a big hunk of bread.

2 large tins of chopped tomatoes (the best you can afford)
1 large onion (chopped finely or grated)

1 tube of tomato puree
½ pint water or chicken stock
½ pint of milk
Salt and Pepper (freshly ground black pepper is best)
1 chopped chilli, or 1 tsp of chilli powder (optional)
