Cottage Pie with a Swede, Potato and Grain Mustard Topping

Method

METHOD

  1.  Heat the oil
  2. Add the beef and fry to colour
  3. Add the onion and garlic
  4. Add flour and mix well
  5. Add chopped tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce and stock
  6. Bring to the boil and simmer slowly for 30-45 minutes
  7. Add more stock if necessary
  8. Meanwhile, cook the potatoes and swede separately
  9. Dry and mash together
  10. Add seasoning and mustard
  11. Pour meat into ovenproof dish and cool
  12. Put potato mixture on top and decorate with a palette knife
  13. Put in the oven 200 c and bake for approx. 30 minutes until coloured on top

  • 1tbsp oil

  • 400gr minced beef

  • 1 finely chopped onion

  • 1 clove crushed garlic

  • 25gr flour

  • 4 tomatoes, deseeded

  • Dash of Worcestershire sauce

  • 300ml beef stock

  • 200gr potatoes

  • 200gr swede

  • 50gr butter

  • Salt & pepper

  • 1tbsp grain mustard
